The Song: It Must Have Been Love
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: Part of the Pretty Woman soundtrack this song is an absolute classic. It hit #1 on the US Billboard chart and #3 on the UK Top 75, staying there for 14 weeks. Even if you don't know the band or the film, you will know this song. For a break-up song, it's quite beautiful and I love the music.
The Song: Love To Hate You
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: Ahh Erasure. They were a massive band of the late 80's/90's and are still around to this day. They reached #4 on the UK Charts with this belter, #19 on the German Charts & ~4 in Sweden. It's a favourite song of CONTROLRadioUK, infectiously catchy & I aboslutely love the music. For a 90's song the video's aged quite well.
The Song: Shiny Happy People
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: Most people know R.E.M for 'Everybody Hurts' but the song I grew up with on the radio was this. It reached #6 on the UK Charts & #10 on the US Billboard. I know a lot of people don't like it, but for me it's such a fun, catchy song that I can't help but like.
The Song: What Do I Have To Do
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: The first of 2 entries here from the Minogue sisters & without a doubt my favourite Kylie Minogue song. It reached #6 on the UK charts & like Erasure, it's infectiously catchy (the chrous has been stuck in my head for like 15yrs) & I love the music. Synth Pop seemed to shine through 90's music which I loved, and I'm glad it's still used frequently today.
The Song: Jump To The Beat
CONTROLRadioUK Thoughts: I've heard this version of the song a lot other the years & had no idea Danni was behind it. It reached #8 on the UK Charts and failed to perfom well which is a shame because the songs great. Both Kylie & Danni are great musicians with quite the belters under their names & Danni was the best judge the UK X Factor ever had, so it's a shame people don't really recognise that.
